Estigma y cuidador principal en la persona con esquizofrenia

Abstract

La esquizofrenia se caracteriza por una distorsión del pensamiento, las percepciones, las emociones, el lenguaje, la conciencia de sí mismo y la conducta. Las personas con esquizofrenia corren un mayor riesgo de sufrir violaciones de sus derechos humanos tanto en las instituciones de salud mental como en las comunidades. La enfermedad está muy estigmatizada. El estigma es un proceso sociocultural por el cual otra gente etiqueta a los miembros de grupos marginados como anormales, vergonzosos, e incluso indeseables. Esta distinción define estigma como un problema que no reside dentro de los individuos marcados, sino más bien se deriva de la comunidad que estigmatiza etiquetando a las personas con enfermedad mental. Los cuidadores informales son individuos allegados a la persona con trastorno psicótico encargados del cuidado no remunerado y no vinculado a un servicio de atención profesional prestado normalmente por un familiar a un sujeto que requiere ayuda en la ejecución de las actividades básicas de la vida diaria. Objetivo: Realizar una revisión sobre las publicaciones realizadas hasta el momento sobre el estigma y su relación con el cuidador principal en la persona con esquizofrenia, con la finalidad de conocer si se ha tenido en cuenta un elemento tan involucrado y partícipe del cuidado de la persona con Trastorno Mental Grave. Metodología: Para cumplir el objetivo del estudio se llevó a cabo una revisión sistemática. Los parámetros de búsqueda fueron estudios cualitativos indexados desde el año 1955 y el año 2015. Se seleccionaron un total de 14 estudios que incluyen artículos, tesis doctorales y capítulos de libro los cuales fueron analizados detalladamente. Resultados: El estigma provoca una complejidad en los cuidados de las personas con esquizofrenia. Los cuidadores en general identifican más fuentes y más mecanismos de estigmatización que los usuarios. El cuidador se ve sometido a un estrés permanente. Los familiares de personas con un trastorno mental experimentan estigma por asociación, es decir, experimentan estigma debido a su asociación con una persona estigmatizada (la persona con el trastorno mental). Los cuidadores afrontan inmensas dificultades de soledad, incertidumbre y temor por tener que tomar decisiones sin comprender las implicaciones de éstas, ya que estos cuidadores no perciben el apoyo por parte de las instituciones o profesionales de salud

Methodology: To fulfill the aim of the study a systematic review was carried out. The parameters of search were qualitative studies indexed from the year 1955 and the year 2015. There were selected a total of 14 studies that include articles, doctoral theses and chapters of book which were analyzed detailed. Results: The stigma provokes a complexity in taken care of the persons with schizophrenia. The keepers in general identify more sources and more mechanisms of stigma that the users.
