dc.description.abstractThe Theory of Resources and Capabilities was applied in the elaboration of this project in order to conduct an internal analysis of the company Irta Group, SL. Some of the analysis tools used were: the value chain of the selected company, the strategic profile and lastly benchmarking. The objective of this project is to show which are the resources and strategic capabilities of the company. These are the points discussed in the project: The first point focuses on the theoretical framework and includes an introduction into the Theory of Resources and Capabilities, in addition to citing and commenting on the essential tools for internal analysis such as: the value chain, functional analysis, benchmarking, the structure of organisational design and coordination mechanisms. The second point focuses on the methodology and includes a brief introduction of the company that was analysed. This project focuses on the industrial sector, more specifically engineering and the production of packing machines, which package food products to later be distributed to supermarkets, shopping centres and smaller establishments where the final consumers can purchase the product. The third point focuses on the empirical stage of the investigation in a practical manner, discussing the tools used for the internal analysis of the company. First by mentioning the value chain of the company, followed by a functional analysis relating to the strategic profile and a comparison with one of the main competing companies, thus allowing for an easy and detailed view of the its strong and weak points. Another point analyses the organisational structure of the company according to its coordination mechanisms. The use of these tools helped in identifying the resources and capabilities found throughout the analysis of the company. Priority has been given to those that are strategically more important, in other words those that comply with the main properties and requirements. The fourth point includes a brief conclusion of what has been learnt and analysed throughout the project in relation to the internal analysis of the company, focusing mainly on the industrial sector and the concept of packaging.
