Promoting interculturalism through intercultural peaces and non-violence - A case study of Castellón, Spain

Abstract

This thesis looks at various knowledge and approaches in relation to peace studies. This study focuses on interculturalism through various peace routes. A relatively new disciplinary field in peace studies named intercultural peace is considered in different echelon. Interculturalism is integral to the establishment of peaceful societies across the world, because of the heterogeneous populace of many cities. Most of the vices currently observed in the world, from armed conflicts, to violence, to racial discrimination among others are a result of failure by humanity to embrace their differences for a peaceful coexistence. While it is true that these elements can be learnt in any setting, the lack of will, and in some instances resources, to inspire such learning continues to be a major drawback to human progress on the same. However, by focusing on the subtle things that we share in common as humans and casting a blind eye on negative energies emanating from our differences, realization of a peaceful society becomes inevitable.
