CONCHA MÉNDEZ, LA SEDUCCIÓN DE UNA ESCRITORA EN LA MODERNIDAD LITERARIA

Abstract

Pretendemos reivindicar la figura de Concha Méndez, ocultada por una cultura fundamentalmente machista e incidir en la participación de la mujer dentro del estallido estético de la vanguardia y en la difusión de la cultura española durante los años de la República. Poeta, dramaturga, impresora… Su actividad como escritora de vanguardia, su cultivo del deporte, su afición por la música y sus trabajos como impresora la convierten en una de las mujeres más relevantes de nuestra Edad de Plata. Estudiaremos su producción poética más significativa e intentaremos aproximarnos al papel de una mujer que se relacionó con importantes personalidades de la cultura española de la primera mitad del siglo XX. Concha Méndez fue una mujer clave en la emancipación de las escritoras de los años veinte y treinta, una mujer que no se sujetó a los arquetipos sociales que se le imponían y que utilizó la seducción de la escritura para conseguir sus objetivos.

We aim to vindicate Concha Méndez, a figure that was hidden by a culture which was primarily sexist, and also to enhance the female participation in the Avant-garde aesthetic boom and the dissemination of the Spanish culture during the Republican period. She was a poet, playwright, printer… Her activity as an Avant-garde writer, the fact that she did sport, her love of music and her works as a printer make her one of the most relevant women in the Spanish Silve Age. We’ll analyze her most significant poetic works and we will try to approach to the role of a woman who had contact with Spanish culture important figures in the first half of the 20th century. Concha Méndez was a key figure for women writers emancipation in the 20s and 30s; she was a woman who did not hold herself to the social archetypes imposed on her, and who used her writing seductiveness to achieve her goals.
