dc.description.abstractThis paper provides the necessary theoretical and methodological basis in order to analyze the evolution of sustainable development in Spain. From the treatment of the concept ‘Sustainable Development’, an appropriate framework for the entry of methodological procedures for measuring sustainability has been developed. Subsequently, these guidelines have been implemented to provide a quantitative analysis from a global synthetic index that includes all four aspects of sustainability: economy, institutions, environment and society. Finally, this index has been used to perform a measurement of the temporal evolution of sustainable development in Spain.ca_CA
