El litoral castellonense: presente y futuro

Abstract

La conservación de las playas en Castellón tiene una importancia fundamental para el entorno socio-económico y cultural de la provincia de Castellón. Esto se debe, entre otras consideraciones, ala atracción turística que éstas poseen, a la calidad y forma de vida de los habitantes de la zona y a los beneficios medioambientales que se obtienen. Es conocido que existe una problemática habitual en estas playas, debida por una parte a la localización de emisarios que contaminan el agua y por otra a la pérdida de arena. para evitar este segundo problema, en muchas de estas playas se ubican pequeños espigones que permiten la acumulación de arena, consiguiendo de esta forma mejorar el atractivo de estas zonas. Sin embargo, esta retención no es suficiente, ya que periódicamente las autoridades se ven obligadas a gastar millones de euros en su regeneración. El desarrollo de modelos que permitan simular el comportamiento de las corrientes, e movimiento de sedimentos y prever la dinámica del litoral será muy útil para mejorar la ubicación de los emisarios, adecuar el tiempo de emisión con las corrientes, así como observar el lugar y la forma idónea de colocación de los espigones o cualquier otra actuación que consiga retener la arena de forma óptima. Es conocido que los modelos de aguas someras confirman que la geometría del dominio determina el movimiento del agua. En este sentido, sería recomendable utilizar estos modelos para averiguar qué actuaciones sobre la costa serían más idóneas para retener la mayor cantidad de arena posible y conservar el litoral.

It is known that shallow models confirm that the geometry of the domain determines the movement of the water. In this sense, it would be advisable to use these models to find out what actions on the coast would be best to retain as much sand as possible and preserve the coastline.
