dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research paper is to try to define what speaking is, talk about its purpose, and discuss how to apply some strategies in teaching speaking to children, in order to develop the necessary skills and instincts to become fluent speakers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). In addition, it will attempt to help teachers by providing them with some tools, techniques and information about different sources to obtain materials for teaching children, so that they can organise their priorities and reach their goals through direct or indirect learning. This obeys to the teachers’ need to be able to manage the children’s attitudes and their responses, taking into account the approaches for controlling a classroom in different ways. In short, all these elements are meant to allow teachers to boost the development of their students’ own competences in a foreign language (FL), enhancing the children’s progress through careful guidance as they give their paramount first steps through this enormous and charming field, learning English as a spoken FL.ca_CA
