Although there is a range of articles around that describe and analyse the spread of Physiocracy in Spain, up until now none of them focused on the contribution made to this process by G. L. Schmid d'Avestein, a member of the Swiss Enlightenment. His Principes de la législation universelle (1776) dealt with the subject of law making in great detail and also contained a complete exposition of Physiocratic doctrine; it became internationally well-known. This article sets out to look at how translations of the work contributed to its dissemination in Spain. It opens with a detailed analysis of the translations done between 1790 and 1840 and goes on to make a variety of observations on how Physiocracy spread internationally and the different mediums that contributed to this process, when and how well It was received in Spain and the role that the ideas of the économistes played in the emergence and consolidation of liberal Political Economy in our country.

The profuse use of the cereal as feeding stuff has been one of the main questions raised to the agrarian sector and its policies in Spain since Flores de Lemus elevated this proposal in 1926. Nevertheless, this change had to wait until the second half of the sixties in order to be made, this work analyses the reasons behind the difficult shift from food to feeding stuff for Spanish cereal throughout the twentieth century, previous to its development. It also explains why it finally happened then, the policy instruments used to make the shift possible, as well as the results. To do it so, this work considers mainly the period between 1967 and 1972, as it includes all the measures taken by Franco's regime to obtain a great substitution between cereals, in order to achieve a greater self sufficiency in these Iivestock inputs

This article aims to analyse the evolution of the fishing activity in the port of A Coruña during a period of transition between the traditional fishing model of the late nineteenth century, and the capitalist model of the second half of the twentieth century, tracing the main stages and the factors that determined the fishing captures. In order to do this, I have mainly used the reports of the port authority, as well as the data collected by the so-called contribución de utilidades de la riqueza mobiliaria, which has led to calculate the results of the most outstanding town fishing entrepreneurs. We have observed that A Coruña became one of the most important national fishing ports, though the evolution of the local fleet and the fishing captures was distorted by frequent and accentuated fluctuations, which affected both this activity and the Iinked urban economic sectors.

This article discusses the relationship between the institution of 'liberal' property rights and the possibilities of long term economic growth established by most part of the historiography. The case study is the Pampa region in the transition between the colonial period and the 19th century. First it deals with the establishment of ideas encouraging liberal economic reforms among local elites. Later on the difficulties founded to achieve those goals, in spite of which we can verify a strong economic growth process. In consequence we propose the hypothesis that the discussion about property right was related more to a debate about wealth distribution than about the possibility of economic growth itself.
