What is the UJI Repository?

The purpose of the Universitat Jaume I Repository is to be the digital space of and for research in Castelló. To do this, it archives, organises and disseminates electronic documents of any kind created by the members of the university community as a result of their academic, teaching, research and institutional activity. It also includes digitised documentary material on the province of Castelló and from other institutions.

The UJI Repository is based on Dspace software.

How to consult and search for documents

The Repository may be consulted by any user.

To carry out some tasks and functions, such as receiving alerts about new items by e-mail, you need to register first, selecting the "Sign up for alerts" option in the right-hand column.

There are two options for consulting and accessing documents:

  1. Browse:

This option, in the right-hand column on all pages, allows you to display contents in a particular order:

    • - by communities and collections
    • - by publication date
    • - by author r
    • - by title
    • - by subject

You can browse the whole Repository or limit the list to a subcommunity or collection.

To see the entire content of a specific collection, select "See all", in the central part or, in the right-hand column, "Browse / in this collection / by publication year or title".

  2. Search:

The search box is in the top right-hand corner of all pages except the home page, where it is in the middle.

    Simple search:

You can search the whole repository or limit the search to any of the communities or collections. To do this you need to go to the community and/or collection and use the search option on the specific page.

    Search tips:

    • When you enter a word in the search cell, the system will carry out a search for that word in the TITLE, AUTHOR, KEY WORD, DESCRIPTION and IDENTIFIER fields of each document.

    • The system includes singulars and plurals, different verb endings, accents, etc. in the search.

    • To search for a title with article you need to put inverted commas at the beginning and the end of the sentence you want to search for. For example: "La Botalària".

    • Truncating: Using the asterisk (*) after the root of a word in the search shows all the words beginning with that root. For example: edu* will also show education, educational...

    • Boolean search:

      • AND – limits the search, finds documents containing the terms combined with this operator. For example: if you type "value AND education", you will obtain all the documents containing both words.

      • OR – extends the search, finds documents containing at least one of the terms combined using this operator. For example: if you type "value OR education", you will obtain all the documents containing either value or education.

      • NOT – limits the search, excludes unwanted words.

      • Parentheses can be used to group search terms together and in combination with different Boolean operators: For example: (value OR strategy) AND (education).

    Advanced search:

It allows you to specify the fields to look in and combine terms with the Boolean operators "AND", "OR" or "NOT".

In "search scope" you can define whether to look in the whole repository or in a community, subcommunity or specific collection. You choose the type of conjunction, the field to search in in "type of search" and you enter the text to search for in "search for".

Depend on your search cope, the program search the text in:

    • - Full text
    • - Journal or collection
    • - Abstract
    • - Author
    • - Titlle
    • - Subject
    • - Language (ISO): spa, eng, cat, fra, deu, ita,… o other
    • - Type: article, book, conferenceObject, learningObject, bachelorThesis, doctoralThesis, workingpaper, image, video, recording oral, pdf, text, html, audio, jpeg, tiff, mp4, video/mpeg, etc.
    • - Identifier(isbn, issn, doi, handle). You must search without url

The search cells must be used in order. If the first one is left blank, the search will not be carried out.

You can choose the number of documents to display per page, the order for seeing the selected documents: by relevance, by title, by date sent or publication date and the display order: ascending or descending.

How to access a document

To see the description of the resource and the document, you need to select the title. In this case, if you are a member of the university community interested in depositing your own publications to be disseminated under open access, send the document in an electronic format, preferably a standard one, or the bibliographical reference to biblioteca@uji.es.

Library staff will study the document’s author’s rights and request the relevant authorisations. They will transform files into standard formats for consultation and add the document to the Repository with the corresponding metadata.

For any doubt you can contact to the Library by selecting, in right-hand column, "ask a librarian" option.
