The physical inactivity is one of the most common characteristics in people with serious
mental disorder. At the time of initiating a new therapeutic activity we must look for one
that has any meaning in the person’s life, it is what we call: significant occupation.
Occupational Therapy gives the possibility to implement a program based on sportive
physical activity with the aim of integrate such activities in the daily routine of the person.
It favours the implication in the therapeutic activity as a means and as an end to work not
only the physical functioning, but also the psychosocial.
To value the personal benefit and to get to know what is the meaning in the person’s life
in a comprehensive manner, there will be valued different aspects that could influence during the accomplishment of the activity, on one hand, from the behavioural level to the
physical and cognitive ones. On the other hand the evolution during the procedure using a
proper observacional scale of the Occupational Therapy, which evaluate the occupational
behaviour. Moreover, it measures the repercussion that the sportive activity has in the own
perception of quality of life.
This plan will be divided into 5 blocks of activity. Each one will use a different way of
working with a total duration of an hour per week.
La inactividad física es una de las características comunes en las personas con trastorno
mental grave. A la hora de iniciar una nueva actividad terapéutica debemos buscar aquella
que tenga significado en la vida de la persona, aquello que llamamos: ocupación
significativa.
Desde Terapia Ocupacional se plantea la posibilidad de implantación de un programa de
actividad física deportiva con el objetivo de que ésta sea integrada en la rutina diaria de la
persona favoreciendo a través de la implicación en la actividad terapéutica como medio y
como fin para trabajar no solo el funcionamiento físico, si no el psicosocial.
Para valorar el beneficio de la misma y cuál es el significado en la vida de la persona de
manera integral se valorará diferentes aspectos que puedan influir durante la realización de
la misma a nivel conductual, físico y/o cognitivo y por otro lado la evolución durante la
misma a través de una Escala observacional propia de Terapia Ocupacional que valora el
comportamiento ocupacional; además de la repercusión que tiene en la percepción de la
calidad de vida de la persona.
Se trata de un programa que estará dividido en 5 bloques de actividad en los que en cada
uno de ellos se trabajará una diferente, con una duración de una hora a la semana.
