The economic and financial recession starting in 2007 had
catastrophic consequences on many international and national
companies regardless of the size, investment and experience in the
sector. This business downturn affected also Martínez de Quel, who
registered for the first time in the company’s history considerable
losses due to the decreasing sales as well as a low level of confidence
from the banks when applying for loans. Due to business new
strategies and concrete actions whose aim consisted in restoring the
company’s sales volume and creditworthiness, in 2011 the company
began to record normalized commercial results.
This thesis has as objective designing an internationalization plan for
Martínez de Quel with a view to prevent future pessimistic scenarios
and avoiding being subject to the Spanish market fluctuations. For that
purpose the study focused on finding a suitable market from an
economic, political and cultural view that proved to be the United
Arab Emirates.
Thereupon, the following pages reveal the strategies and steps to be
performed for obtaining a successful and effective internationalization
plan.
