The communication society in which we live connects us with the whole world
and its cultures. In order to be able to communicate and understand each other in a large
number of situations we chose English as a lingua franca. Nowadays, students need to
have a good command of the English language as a society demand.
However, the way English is taught and learned in schools varies and poses a
challenge for both, teachers and students. In this project, I try to propose a way to
encourage foreign language teaching through the Content and Language Integrated
Learning (CLIL) approach.
I begin describing the environment in which we are living and what the society
demands from us in relation to languages. Then I will review some CLIL advantages
and positive aspects, I will also mention those aspects that seem not to be that positive
in the application of CLIL in the language classroom.
The last part of this project is a lesson plan I have designed to teach a History
lesson through the CLIL approach to a group of 4th graders of Secondary Education.
The lesson plan includes feasible activities that can be used in the classroom.
